x301 LCD hack?

#1 Post by D|g|ta| » Wed Sep 14, 2011 2:56 am

I was curious if there is a larger resolution screen for this laptop and if there is such a hack to get it working?

I have never heard of one. That doesn't mean there isn't.

1600 x 900 would be nice. Unfortunately I don't think it is possible in a 13" X30x.

I have seen a Sony with a very nice 1600 x 900 LCD in a 13" form factor. Very bright and usable.

It is just impossible because X30x is 13.3" 16:10, while the screen you're talking about is 13.1" 16:9, they are of very different width/height, so 1600*900 just won't fit as e.g. won't fit 14".

They are up to 1920*1080, depending on the specific configuration.
And such a screen is significantly smaller than X220 upper lid, so lenovo could technically put 1920*1080 screen it their X220, maybe even making the laptop a bit larger, but 1920*1080... oh, dreams...

Don't know of wsxga+ (1680x1050) in 13" or 14" format. 15" wsxga+ is available but will not fit on x301.

A working X301 can fetch a good price right now, so if you have need for it, then you should just sell it and let some other people find a use for it, while you get some financial benefit of this transaction.

It should be possible to fit the LG Philips LP125WF1 (12,5" Full HD IPS) into the X301. This panel is relatively new and not yet available for purchase. A new connector might be necessary.
