Bluetooth Adapter

#1 Post by newyorkpaulie » Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:15 pm

I recently got a tablet (HP) that is bluetooth enabled. Is there an adapter that I can get to put into my T30? The PC seems to be bluetooth enabled, but when I try to activate it I get a "no adapter present" message

Hi

It sounds like you have the software installed but you don't have the Bluetooth module. Do an eBay search for T30 Bluetooth module and you should find one fairly cheap, the module raplaces the modem module in your laptop - but you would need to ensure you have the bluetooth aerial to plug in

Where would I look for the aerial. Is there a connector wire somewhere like the WiFi antenna wires? This is a top of the line T30 which came equipped with wifi and built-in antenna, etc., so I guess the BlueTooth antenna is included too... just need to know how to attach it to the module if/when I get one. Thanks.

If you don't have a BT icon on the clear plate under the screen, along with the rectangular switch, there's no BT on that T30.

BTW, all T30s that I've ever seen came pre-wired for wireless...

Top-of-the-line for T30 generation equals SXGA+ LCD, Type II board and possibly BT.

I've got 2 2366-JBUs. This is the only model that came with 2.4GHz, making this the top-of-the-line model. You are right about the SXGA (1400x1050). The spec sheet also lists that it has either a modem or bluetooth installed, so it looks like I can swap out my modem for a bluetooth module (according to RecTech's post).

As per Lenovo's website:

ThinkPad T30 (2366-JBU)
P4-M 2.4GHz, 256MB RAM, 60GB HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 24x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM, 802.11b wireless/Modem(MPCI), Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip(TCPA), Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

No BT there. You'd have to find a proper plate/antenna that goes on the motherboard, along with the clear plate with switch and insignia...

BTW, you'll have to rip the entire unit apart to install BT if you want it to be like IBM did it in those dim dead days...

Also, models ending in M7x (and probably several more submodels) came out with 2.4 Ghz CPUs...
