Re: new thinkpad project - a31p
That's a little expensive considering how old the A31p is. You may be able to find a cheaper one. That one does look to be in good shape judging by the pictures though.
I bought a T40 on Ebay for less than 100 bucks earlier this week.
Might not be bad though, can't say for sure.

"what sort of upgrades can i do to it?"
Don't get me started on that one....
- Install a 320GB PATA/IDE hard drive
- Max out the memory (2GB)
- Install a TPLINK Wireless N mini pci card (install the wireless antenna first if it doesn't have it, need to the 1802 Bios & Atheros Mod)
- Install a Ultrabay Multi Burner
- Install Bluetooth (need antenna, bezel, modem/bluetooth combo card and the right drivers)
- Install a flush PCMCIA USB 2.0 card (nothing sticking out)
- Install a PCMCIA memory card reader
- Get a SATA ultrabay hard drive caddy and install a second harddrive (I have had a 2nd SATA 640Gb in one of my A31p's)
- Upgrade the processor (up to 2.6Ghz P4-M)
- Get a docking station with build in power supply and another ultrabay (and PCI slot)
- Get a Ultraport camera for on top of the screen
Most of these parts you can pick up cheap on Ebay if you shop around..
