Is there X61T Ultrabase Dock Eject via Fn-F9 for Windows 7?

#1 Post by crashnburn » Sat Oct 15, 2011 7:29 am

Is there X61T Ultrabase Dock Eject via Fn-F9 for Windows 7?

Does any such thing exist for X2xx series Tablets with Ultrabase/ Docks?

Windows 7 just recognized the Ultrabase Dock as some mixed hardware:
- USB Composite Device
- Multi USB Hub
- 3rd.. item (Cant remember)

(I wish I'd written this down.. just typing from memory)

Edit:
Can this work for Windows 7? Is / has anyone used it on Windows 7? Good, Bad? Pros/ Cons?

Be able to safely eject from the Dock? Like I used to do before Windows 7?

Think they've discontinued the EasyEject utility since Win7...

I asked before whether there's a shortcut or registry hack to bring up the Windows safely remove dialogue with Fn-F9 but didn't seem to find an answer.

It's something I missed going from Vista to 7.

Cheers.

I don't think there is anything unsafe in just yanking the PC off the dock. I've been doing this with all my laptops.

But then I did hear about some issues involving some i965/ICH8M units, like your X61T.

Does the ultrabase have an eject button? The T/R/Z/W series docks do.

I'm able to make Fn-F9 bring up Windows' built-in Safely Remove dialogue by combining the information provided in the below places...

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows- ... re-dialog/
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-K ... a-p/498091

However, the dialogue is opened in the background.

Cheers.

Welcome! Does it work for you...? I still haven't figured out a way to make it pop-up in the foreground...

Cheers.

The latest Hotkey utility says this...

But I don't seem to notice where it can be changed...?

Code: Select all

<3.70.0000>
 - (New) Added support for the Change to "F1-F12 keys" function of On Screen Display on Windows 7.

This (RemoveDrive) maybe of some interest, a small command line utility to safely remove designated USB devices...
