How often do you turn your TPT off?
How often do you turn your TPT off?
I am not yet a heavy user as I bought it mostly for travel.
I am treating the TPT like I do my cell phone.
I keep it charged up but never shut it off. I sleeps most of the time, half the time its charging.
I this OK?
Do you turn it off every night?

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
I never turn mine off, but that doesn't mean much. Since the battery doesn't last long, even in sleep mode, it shuts itself off nearly every day. I also noticed that it rarely will turn on with the battery below 10%.
I'd say the "sleep" mode isn't great and neither is the battery management at this point. Hopefully, updates can improve both.
By contrast, even the first generation iPad will sleep for days and they be ready to go at the press of a button.

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
i just checked my thinkpad tablet..
it has been sitting in the keyboard folio for about 3 days, 100% charge when i unplugged the charger..
battery level now, after 3 days without charging, is 78%..
BT is off, gps is on, wifi is on..
this, IMO is a big problem with the tablet vs. an iPad..
the iPad is "on" and ready to go all the time..
the thinkpad tablet will need to be booted up if it is to have battery power after many days off the charger..
agree with underclocker, as i said in my "first impressions" it NEEDS a good power utility and a deeper sleep ability..
in a pinch, which one would i sell for $$ to pay the rent should the recession get worse..?
the iPad..!
in the poll above, i selected "now and then" but i really would like to select "never"..

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
30 hours ago, I charged mine to 100% (which took several hours!) After turning it on, I put it on a shelf w/WiFi on, Mobile Broadband off (I do have a WWAN adapter installed), GPS on, and Bluetooth off. I just pressed the on button, it woke from sleep mode and the battery shows 74%
It used 26% is sleep mode for 30 hours, nearly 1% per hour.
And again, good luck turning it on or using it with the battery below 10%.
I'm still hoping for a software update to improve this...or I might just sell it first, since I don't use it that much...

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
Wow 78% after 3 days. I get that in 4 hours not really using it at all.
I'm using Juice Defender Ultimate - works great on my phone but maybe not really tuned for the TPT.
I don't understand the "Ipad is on and ready to go all the time".
If I don't turn the TPT off, it too is ready to go.
As moderator, admin I have a question.
87 People have viewed this post and 5 have voted.
Does that mean that most people don't have a TPT?
Or is this the laziest forum in all creation?
I mean it only take to push a button.

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
In my case, I didn't know what TPT meant. How could I respond, one click or many? It took me down several posts to realize it must be ThinkPad Tablet you were discussing.
Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
As fo me I don't own a tablet. And as far as I can see I am not going to have one.

Charges faster with it off.
So yes.
As for never turning off devices like the Ipads.
I find all O.S driven devices need a clean reboot every now and then to clean the garbage data that accumulates with use. My IPhoneneeds a reboot every month or so or it slows down. The lack of an intelligent cache and temp cleaning mechanism is what makes always on a pipe dream.

if i turn the ipad off it does not discharge the battery..Shofar wrote:I don't understand the "Ipad is on and ready to go all the time".

thus it is ready to go with no boot up time when i turn it on..
the TPT (ThinkPad Tablet) needs to boot up if i turn it fully off so as to not discharge the battery over time..
after 3 months since you asked this question its 673 views and still only 6 votes..Shofar wrote: 87 People have viewed this post and 5 have voted.

and only 50 topics in the tablet forum..?
i think this means there are few problems or questions or the TPT is not very popular..

Re: How often do you turn your TPT off?
I have turned my tablet off about 3 times since owning.
2 of those times I know were to root it. 1 of them I think was when I first got it and didn't want to install the SD card while it was on.
Other than that it's either in my hands, or sleeping.
I just got the Dock for it so no it docks when in my office or plugs into the micro usb charger when in the living room.
So far it's been a great tablet and I am really glad I own it.
