[SOLVED] ThinkPad E125 - hard disk type ?

#1 Post by sufehmi » Fri Feb 03, 2012 7:45 am

Hi, I just bought a ThinkPad E125, with 8 GB RAM. Nice little machine, very nice keyboard (indeed), and its AMD E450 processor is just what I need (64 bit, hardware virtualization, dual core)

However, I was stuck when I tried to upgrade its 320 GB hard disk. The 1 TB hard disk I bought turned out to be too big to fit. Ouch.....

The hard disk in E125 is very thin. I've never seen it before.

I've googled around, but I could find no explanation of this hard disk. E125 manuals only quoted some cryptic Lenovo inventory code.
I asked around to various computer shops, but they were baffled as well when they saw it. And none sold it.

Doesn anyone knows what kind of hard disk is in this ThinkPad E125 ? Or perhaps someone here could be kind enough to give me an URL to a compatible hard disk product somewhere, in Amazon or other ecommerce website ?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Harry

My bad..... I was looking at the "Hardware Maintenance" guide....

After I got the "User Manual", I managed to find on page 12 - that it's a 2.5 SATA hard disk with thickness of 7mm.

Hope it help someone else.

Cheers,
Harry

Indeed. The Edge E125 and E120 only accept the thin models of laptop drives. I pulled the 320GB thin drive from my E120 and installed an Intel SSD, which is also 7mm thick. Other ThinkPad models are also restricted to 7mm.
