[FS/FT] IBM ThinkPad X40, GREAT cond., 1.2 GHz, 512 MB, $75

#1 Post by ThinkRob » Thu Feb 09, 2012 9:22 pm

A while back I was taking inventory of the spare parts that I had lying around, and I realized that I had all the parts to assemble an X40.

So I did.

Huh. Well that was fun. I don't need an X40 though, so I'm listing it for sale or trade.

(Edit: 16 Feb 2012 - price drop!)

Here's what's up:

Description

Model: IBM ThinkPad X40
CPU: Pentium M 1.2 GHz (Banias, I think)
RAM: 512 MB RAM
storage: no hard drive (but does include drive cover)
WLAN: Intel 2100
WWAN: N/A
battery: 4-cell slim battery, condition unknown (good when last used, but has been in storage for quite a while)

Cosmetically the machine is in very good condition, I'd say about 8/10. There is the usual corner wear and some minor defects on the lid, but no major damage and no cracked or chipped plastic anywhere. The screen has no bad pixels (that I can see) and no white spots.

I'll also include a CompactFlash adapter designed for the X40. Note: this isn't the usual "might short out your planar because the jokers didn't know the X40 uses an uncommon voltage" adapter that you find on eBay, but is one of the StarTech adapters designed specifically for the X40.

Oh, and I'll include a ZIF adapter too, 'cause you (dear buyer) are awesome like that. :D

Price / Shipping

I'm asking $75 plus $5 shipping anywhere in the US. I'm also interested in trades for older ThinkPad hardware; I'd prefer something from the T2x or X2x era in very good condition, but no matter what you've got, let me know and we can make a deal.

International shipping, shipping via other carriers, and/or insurance are all available at cost.

Local pickup is an option if you're in the Chapel Hill area.

Payment

I accept PayPal, Western Union, MoneyGram, USPS money order, or cash. If paying via PayPal, buyer will pay fees.

Price drop to $75. I'll throw in a ZIF adapter (specially designed for the X40!) too, so if you want to upgrade to an SSD or a new hard drive you don't have to find one.
