760C errors 00161, 00163

I have these errors upon boot and have foiund them to be related to the cmos battery. I took the palm rest off and found two battery packs. One was a single cell and the other was made up of three small batteries soldered together. The three cell pack is severely corroded and I want to replace it. Anyone know of a source or know the type of cell so that I can rebuild the pack? Thanks, Keith

Those error codes are for the date and time. This error makes sense if your CMOS battery died.

While you aquire a replacement battery you can set the date and time, restart, and you should now be able to use your ThinkPad.

I don't have any batteries for sale or know where to get any for your ThinkPad.

You should be able to find these at Radio Shack (may have to special order) or if you are in the area of one, Fry's Electronics usually has them as well.

Brian, will Radio Shack have the single cells and I will need to assemble them? ... or do they carry the assembled cells. I think the cmos is a 2020. The suspend battery is made up of three 3.6v cells but I don't know their number. Thanks, Keith

If it's a keep busy project, just source them from eBay or thinkpad-parts.com ... you're more likely to get the right part the first time.
