G41-2886 Onboard Wireless adapter card

#1 Post by ITADMIN » Thu Apr 19, 2012 10:25 pm

Hello all!

First time here and I see that I will be a frequent visitor with all the IBM equipment I now have under my supervision!

I am trying to upgrade a G41-2886 to 802.11N. Is there a compatible card available that I can replace the A/B/G card with?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

There are no official IBM/Lenovo mini-PCI cards capable of "N" range transmission.

This one will work with a "no-1802" hack:

Happy upgrading.

Thanks for the quick reply!!!

I presume since you sent me a link for a N card, that it is the correct one I should order to install and then run the "No 1802" hack on the G41?

Thanks again for your help and I will wait to hear from you before I order the card to be sure I will be ordering the right part!

No.

You run the hack first, along with the one that addresses "01C9" error and then install the card.

Good luck.

Hello!

Does ANYONE have a good link for the wifi_v2 boot cd? All the links I have found are dead!

Thanks to anyone and everyone here for the great information!
