I would like to keep the weight of my W520 to the minimum so I ordered a 6-cell battery and I would like to keep the Ultrabay empty for most of the time. My problem is that I don't want dust to go to the ultrabay, so I am looking for some kind of cover / dummy plastic.
On eBay I found 62P4331 covers very cheap, but I don't know if they are compatible with the W520/T520. The other question is that if they are compatible whether they leave a gap (like the official Ultrabay HDD caddy), or not (like the NewmodeUS / eBay HDD caddy).
Do you know what's the best solution to keep the Ultrabay empty?

Ultrabay cover for W520/T520?
Re: Ultrabay cover for W520/T520?
Another possibility you could consider, is to purchase one of those caddies you've already seen on eBay, and leave it empty. The weight difference would be negligible compared to the dummy, and you'd also have the added flexibility of adding in an extra HDD whenever you want.
Main PC: ThinkPad W520, i7-2760QM, Intel 520 SSD 240GB, 8GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 1000M
Home rig: ThinkPad W701, i7-920XM, Intel 320 SSD 300GB, 8GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro FX2800M
NAS PC: ThinkPad T420, i7-2620M, Intel 520 SSD 180GB, 8GB RAM, Nvidia NVS 4200M

I've actually ended up doing this! It's a really amazing solution, I have a dummy cover, what actually acts like a hot swap HDD slot! Really handy!skie wrote:Another possibility you could consider, is to purchase one of those caddies you've already seen on eBay, and leave it empty. Yep, it can come in really handy at times, and these caddies aren't too expensive either. Glad you found yourself a solution!
