X200 Palmrest/Keyboard Screws

#1 Post by Dgaran01 » Tue May 08, 2012 4:06 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering - is there any way to distinguish between the M2 x 6 mm and M2 x 5 mm screws?
I am referring to any special marking/color/adhesive.

When I took out the screws that secure the palmrest and the keyboard, I could not distinguish any difference between them.

If I accidentally switched up the screws, will there be any tension on the parts?

Thanks in advance!

Well, M2 x 6mm screws would be 6mm in length, and M2 x 5mm screws would be 5mm. So whichever ones are slightly shorter are M2x5.

Thanks, however I was confused since I saw the maintenance manual state 6mm screws and 5mm screws and when I took them out I could see them as one-size.

I just wanted to some kind of conformation that I didn't do something wrong.

Thanks!

I can understand your issue, I also have trouble telling some screws apart, specially when you have one or to mm difference only. I normally use a ruler to measure them, the HMM specifies the color most of the time as well.

Stand them on their caps on a flat table so you can easily tell whether some of them are slightly longer.
