R30 IRQ Error

#1 Post by John » Wed Sep 15, 2004 7:19 am

I have a TP R30 and I've been getting an IRQ error message everytime I start the PC (not restart...just after a shutdown or coming out of hibernation when on battery power). The message I receive is...

ERROR
Warning: IRQ not configured - PCI
Bus : 00 Device : 13 Function : 00
ERROR
Warning: IRQ not configured - PCI
Bus : 00 Device : 0A Function : 00

The only way around this is to go into the BIOS settings and set everything back to default. Then when XP finishes starting up...the date is set to something like 1684.

I tried to install a newer BIOS, but it said I didn't have enough memory (I have 256MB).

I've searched IBM, Google, Alta Vista, Yahoo, Lycos...no luck. Any ideas?

I solved it (with help from IBM)...the CMOS battery was dead, so every time it was turned off the system lost it's time. When I turned it on, I'd get the IRQ error and would have to set everything to the default settings and reset the time and date. I ordered the new battery...part # 11J8591...installed it and everything is working like new. :D

I know this post is from forever ago, but I have a very similar problem. I actually have the exact same problem, with the same errors, but I also have a bios setup password. My R30 was given to me by someone who forgot the password. The password prevents me from even changing the date and time. I replaced the battery, but the problem still exists. Unless I figure out the password, I have no way of changing the date and thus fixing my problem. Anyone have any ideas?
