Wireless connections keeps cutting off

#1 Post by audiudew » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:06 pm

I have a T410, and every 20 minutes or so, the wireless connections keeps disconnecting. I have to click on the "troubleshoot" link and the system does a "wireless network reset". I am usually online doing classes, so it's a pain to have to reconnect to the class.

Is this common?

Is there a relatively cheap solution to this?

Thanks

I also had this problem and fixed it by loading the Intel wireless driver 14.2.0.10 and have had no issues since then

if you have access connections installed, there is a setting in the last tab (tools -> global settings) to disable the wireless when it's "inactive" but it could also shut it off randomly. uncheck the box and see if that fixes the problem.

@mariol90... I unchecked what you said. However, my connection usually cuts off while I am actively using the browser. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

The funny thing is that Lenovo has solutions related to this issue, however, none of them works for my situation:

I am not sure how receptive you might be toward using a live linux distro session to run a test. What I propose is that you could boot in (running a live linux distro), connect to your router, and surf for a bit on the web browser. I am fairly certain that many of the popular distros of linux support the wireless card that is in your T410. After wireless connection is established and it disconnects again then that would rule out windows drivers and point towards a possible hardware problem. If it does not disconnect then we could be fairly certain that it is a software issue in windows.

@emeraldgirl08 ... not really sure on how to go about doing what you are suggesting. I mean I don't know how to get hold of a linux distro session and how to deploy it. I am a MSFT guy unfortunately.

Is there an external device I can purchase that would resolve this issue?
