Easy Question about the ThinkPad Edge E430

#1 Post by funtasticguy » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:02 pm

Hi! I'm planning to buy a Thinkpad E430. Does anyone know if it is easy to upgrade the hard drive and RAM memory? On most laptops it is easy but since I have never bought a Lenovo laptop before, I just wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger. Indeed, I found the customization on Lenovo's page to upgrade from a 4GB to 8GB rather high (over $100) so that I rather do it myself.

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the Forum :)

Yes, it's a very easy DIY project. Just follow the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... D=UM014301

The only thing to remember is that to get the back plate back on, you may have to apply a little pressure to get the edges to 'click' back into the correct slots. But otherwise, it is a very serviceable machine.
