There are dozens of T41 and T42 models so it's hard to recommend a specific model without knowing what you're looking for. What is your budget? What features are you looking for?
Thinkpad X200s w/ Ultrabase
C2D SL9600 / 8GB / 160GB X25-M G2 / BD MULTI / 12.1" WXGA / INTEL 4500MHD / INTEL 5150 / BT / AT&T WWAN / W7

Re: recommand one of t series....
Bill usually gives about 10% discount, and no tax. So the answer is yes, it's good to buy from Bill. Just choose your desired model from tabook, and email Bill for a price quote (Bill@ThinkPads.com).
Differences between T41 and T42:
-T42 has the new, faster Intel Banias CPU
-14" non-FlexView (1024x768, or 1400x1050) and 15" FlexView screen (1400x1050, 1600x1200)
-ATI Radeon 9600 64MB video card in some models or ATI FireGL T2 128MB video card in T42p models
What are you planning to use your TP for? Gaming or office work (word processing, Internet browsing, presentation etc.)?
Regards,
G-Man

you need to select a model and then look at the price..
i can give the best discount on 2373 models..
and probably 2374 models..
but i can not discount the 2378 or the 2379 models at all..
i do not collect any sales tax, but if you are in canada, when i send the T42 you select to canada you might be liable for canadian VAT..
this is the canadian version of our sales tax..
send me an email when you have decided..
you can count on a 10% discount when you pay cash..

for $2200, go with the 2373-3VU, best all around for the price IMHO.junghun wrote:thanks for your help...

More info on importing:morrow wrote: i do not collect any sales tax, but if you are in canada, when i send the T42 you select to canada you might be liable for canadian VAT..
this is the canadian version of our sales tax..
If you import anything from the US into Canada, you'll have to pay 7% GST (Goods and services taxes) guaranteed. This is federal; you can't escape it. Some provinces also require you to pay PST (Provincial sales tax), including BC - I think it's 7.5 or 8% now. So, if you import to BC you'll need to add on an additional 14.5-15% tax. I seem to remember something about being able to import a notebook computer for a business and getting a refund on your PST, but don't hold me to it.
Also, you need to be careful about how you ship the notebook into the country. USPS Global Express seems to be the best option because it a) doesn't cost too much, and b) you can get the notebook insured for up to $6000 CAD, I believe. Might be USD. In other words, if you can import the notebook into Alberta instead of BC you'll save a huge whack of tax - AT LEAST $175 USD.
DO NOT USE UPS STANDARD! They will charge you a huge brokerage fee (4-5% of the purchase price, IIRC), GST, PST and a handling fee as well. If you are going to use UPS, use UPS Express or Expedited - the fee is included with the purchase.
I have no experience with FedEx other than a book here and there, which is not applicable to the situation. Anyway, good luck with the notebook!
