Lenovo ThinkPad X300 next to ThinkPad W700

Lenovo is showing some love to their Canadian customers and running a “You Pay What We Pay” sale. I’m not quite sure if this is truly what Lenovo CA employees get machines for, but the discounts are generous, if laden with restrictions. Discounts are as follows:

  • ThinkPad SL: 10%
  • ThinkPad T: 15%
  • ThinkPad X Tablet: 20%
  • ThinkPad X: 20%
  • ThinkPad W: 20%

Not too shabby, but keep in mind that you cannot use any other eCoupons on top of this. You are also limited to five machines, but I doubt that’s an issue for most people. To get this deal:

  1. Visit this link between April 21st and 25th
  2. Apply eCoupon code at shopping cart: CAPBIGSAVINGS
  3. Sit back and wait for your ThinkPad! (Hopefully not too long)

x300

I just wanted to leave our dear readers with this tip for the weekend. You’ve surely heard of the ThinkPad X300 or X301. The ultra-slim, feature packed ThinkPad that slaps Apple’s MacBook Air right in the face and says “Hah, I compromise nothing!” Well, almost nothing anyway. But I digress.

Well this beauty is on sale for $1,699 starting price, thanks to $607 off and a 15% coupon. For those not up on the latest and greatest, the X301 features the newest Centrino 2 platform, a brighter WXGA+ 13.3″ LED backlit display, DisplayPort video output, and has an optional 128GB SSD that is smokin fast.

Make sure when entering the coupon code that there are no spaces before or after the code, otherwise it will fail. Hit up LogicBuy for the base model specs and of course the coupon code. But before you do, check out this video which shows why the X300 series rules the MacBook Air:

More IdeaPad Y650 reviews rolling in

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

More reviews of Lenovo’s IdeaPad Y650 are finally appearing – just in time for the Y650 sale.

All told, the Dell XPS Studio we tested has a slight edge thanks to its available Blu-ray drive, 1080p screen, better gaming performance, and longer standard warranty (three years versus one year for the IdeaPad). But it’s also $400 more than the IdeaPad Y650. If you care about high-definition movies or 3D games, you’ll appreciate that you can get the Y650’s design, features, and performance at an attractive price.

That said, the Y650 is thinner and lighter than any other 16-inch notebook we’ve seen … and the discrete graphics card in this machine is perfectly capable of handling HD video decoding and digital audio out over HDMI for watching movies on your HDTV. If you’re looking for an attractive entertainment notebook for your family the Y650 makes a great choice, but if you need a high-end gaming notebook this isn’t it.
