Lenovo opens another retail store in India

Lenovo store in Seoul

This is news to me, but apparently Lenovo has a total of eight retail stores in the Indian state Kerala alone. Cochin, a city within Kerala, will be home to the newest Lenovo Exclusive Store with a 320 square foot presence and join two other such stores in the same city.

Throughout the state of Kerala, Lenovo also sells through the channel with 140 business partners in addition to the eight LES stores.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me. India is one of the highly coveted BRIC (Brazil-Russia-India-China) emerging markets that every industry is lusting after and a strong retail presence in the burgeoning region makes sense. Indeed, that is one way Lenovo achieved its strength in China. The article does indicate specifically that Idea products will be sold here, with no mention of ThinkPads. No TrackPoint love?

IdeaCentre A600 reviews popping up

IdeaCentre A600

We haven’t talked much about the IdeaCentre A600 here, and mainly because there’s not been much said. It promised to be a neat all-in-one desktop with a 21.5-inch LCD, neat gyroscopic remote/mouse/VOIP phone, and overall good value. While announced at CES and made available for purchase at the end of March, we’re just now seeing reviews popping up.

Overall the reviews are positive. I’m a little surprised and disappointed that there are no HDMI ports to speak of, and specifically no video input aside from coaxial on the TV tuner. With a TV tuner, 1080p LCD, and overall multimedia theme, the ability to hook up an external video source like a game console seemed like a no brainer to me. However the grysocopic mouse/remote/VOIP phone seems to work well and there is even a touchpad on the wireless keyboard. Hit the links below for all the details.

48 hours left to get an IdeaCentre A600 for $629

Lenovo IdeaCentre A600

Lenovo’s IdeaCentre A600 has been highly regarded since it was announced at CES  this year, but hasn’t been available for sale until just recently. The lead times are still a bit out, currently listed at 18 days, but if you’re willing to wait you can pick one up for 10% off if you order by midnight on March 31st.

The A600 is a slick all-in-one desktop PC with a 21.5 inch 1080p LCD screen, various Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors, WiFi card, and an available slot-loading Blu-ray drive. What really sets it apart though is the thin, sleek design, built-in subwoofer, touch-sensitive controls, available TV tuner, and available 4-in-1 Wii-like remote control. That’s right, the A600 offers a remote that works like a Wii controller. Not only can you interact with your PC in mid-air, no mouse pad needed, you can even play a number of included motion-based games just like your Wii. Check out the video below for Lenovo blogger Matt Kohut’s take on the system.

Unfortunately the heralded 4-in-1 remote is NOT included in all systems and Lenovo conveniently does not tell you if any of the three pre-configured systems has it. Another win for Lenovo. Anywho – click the link below for details on how to get your 10% off!
