While we didn’t see any refresh of the IdeaPad U Series at CES 2010, the IdeaPad Y460 is coming soon and Lenovo’s working on moving those models out too. Today we present to you your choice of Lenovo’s IdeaPad U450p or Y450 for the low price of $499. I really liked the Y450 I reviewed a while back. While it wasn’t super thin and light, the design was slick, the keyboard excellent and the overall quality very nice. If it had a Trackpoint, I would love to use it every day.  While the U450p is 0.3 inches thinner, it weighs the same and has a slower, less powerful processor. The catch with the two configurations below is that while I’d like the Y450’s faster processor, it comes saddled with Vista and you’ll be forced to pay about $30 for your Win7 upgrade disks. The U450p, on the other hand, comes loaded with Win7 out of the box and will have Lenovo’s Enhanced Experience. It looks very similar inside and out, and has a lot of the same features, albeit with a smaller 14.1-inch widescreen. There is also a very sexy IdeaPad Y650 present, so you’ll see a couple shots where we compare the thickness.
