Fresh off the rumor that Lenovo will be building an Atom powered 12″ netbook, we’re now hearing rumors of other large netbooks from the company. According to the report, Lenovo has plans to make an 11.6″ netbook as well as a 12.1″ netbook which will both run NVidia’s Ion in concert with Intel’s Atom. Ion is an integrated graphics chip developed by NVidia to provide full capable 1080p HD playback and other graphical nicities on form factors as small as the netbook.
Lenovo also has plans to build a 13″ Ion model (could this still be a “netbook”? If so it’d be the largest ever and really shake up some definitions.) as well as a separate 12″ netbook from the one earlier reported, this one featuring a VIA chip, most likely the new VIA Nano.
Seems like Lenovo has their eye on the biggest-small/smallest-big low cost laptop form factor. There’s a lot of room for growth in that area, and if Lenovo is successful with this you can expect to see other manufacturers jump on this in the near future.
