Changed Gen one LCD panel and now no boot. Ideas?
Finally found the right panel for my Gen 1 3443-CTO and put it in just a few minutes ago. Connector snugged up, got the wires back in the guides and snapped the bezel back on expecting that glorious boot screen. But instead it did nothing. No beeps either. I'm changing it up right now, as I'm sure t...

LF: 1st Gen X1 Carbon non-touch LCD panel or assembly
I'm having real trouble finding the right panel due to the 30pin or 40pin issue. From what I can tell I have a 40 pin connector. At least it looks different than the pictures I see. https://photos.app.goo.gl/z5EwjHj4XJxaBBoc6 is what I have. FRU: 04W6859 LP140WD2(TL)(E2) 3443-CTO non-touch Can anyon...

LF: 1st Gen X1 Carbon non-touch LCD panel or assembly
Hello all, My X1 Carbon (1st Gen 3443-CTO 1600x900 non-touch) LCD has developed lines on the extreme right and at the extreme bottom. It still is usable, but aggravating. I just popped the surround off and it looks like the video connector is on the bottom right as you face the machine. It's not the...

Asus Keyboard Nightmare
So someone gave me an Asus laptop to fix and it had a horrible kyb. Took it off, got ready to install a new replacement and grrrrrrr. The darn cable to the MB is so short I can't get it seated. I can get all the others, but the main cable is just too short. Any ideas appreciated. It's a decent unit ...

You've helped so many of us stretch our budgets a little farther. I'm in line to say thank you. Now if you want to stay busy, I can send you some Computrace affected laptops to fix.
Thanks again,
David

Re: What to do if Computrace is activated in your TP BIOS
LOL I pulled some TPs off the shelf and was getting ready to list them and ran right into this again. So I get the BIOS part of this can only be solved with a call to Absolute. But the HD side which the infected laptop infected at least another... what do I need to do there? DOD wipe? Hammer? Thanks...

Re: Oops! Liquid spill
I searched the forums and scoured the internet and found another post with a similar plot line. The OP mentioned that maybe the fuses on the MB were affected and that might be why he could change screens and not make it work. He said he could see faint images at a certain angle. I don't see any imag...

Rob, I might be interested if I can't get my X1 back up and running within the next couple of days. I can't do much without a functional laptop and though I only had the X1 for a couple of weeks before my liquid skill, I liked it a lot. Are you firm on the price?

Oops! Liquid spill
I actually fell asleep grading papers with a coffee cup in my hand Saturday. The Thinkpad worked well I thought, channeling the coffee through onto my pants and yes that coffee was hot. So I cut it off, pulled the battery and dried it out, I thought. It worked great the rest of the day. I got up thi...

No beeps. Nothing. I bought another host machine off eBay today - cheaper than a motherboard. Hate it when a good machine just dies.

T410s dead with power button illuminated
A couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere, the battery in my T410s died. It was fine the day before. Other than that, it's been working well since. Last night I tried to boot it and nothing happened. The power button is still illuminated though. I've pulled the battery and tried and nothing. Reset the R...

Any trick to working with KYB cable that's short?
I was given an Acer laptop (acer model e5-571) that needed cleaning up before I could use it at school so I took the kyb off to blow the crap out and now I can't work with the kyb cable and other cables to get it back in. The main cable is the shortest I have ever seen. It's hard to get my hand in t...

X131e hinges fragile
I teach 3rd grade and have been buying used 131e units. They looked so rugged I thought they'd replace my ancient Samsungs. But when they are dropped, the screen hinge screws just pull out of their receptacles because the plastic cracks. Not a hard drop either. Any ideas? I'm about to JB Weld the su...

well he sold them, but told me he'd let me know when he gets some more. In a perfect world, I'd have 22 T60's running Linux. But right now I have a motley crew of Chromebooks (more fragile than Thinkpads, but super simple to roll out and maintain), Thinkpads (some of which were given to me by forum ...

SL series
Got a chance to pick up several SL series Thinkpads for use with my third grade class. Looking at specs and reviews, they appear to be less reliable and less rugged than the R50 and T60 I'm accustomed to. But it's a really good deal and I'm going to run Linux on them anyway. Any thoughts from you wh...

WTT: T410s for similar with bigger screen
I love the lightness of my T410s, and it's snappy enough for the mostly web-surfing I do. But these old eyes have trouble with seeing text well. So before I start looking, checking to see if anyone wants to downsize.
Or if you have something around the same range PM me.
Thanks,
David

WTB: T410s accessories
Setting up my t410s as my daily driver and to make it work well I need a couple of accessories. If anyone has a docking station or a media bay 2nd hard drive adapter, I'm interested in purchasing those.

WTB: Recover disks (Win 7 Pro 64) for T410s
Just picked up a T410s and know I'll love it once I get it sorted out. Apparently I need the Lenovo disks to install the OS. If you have a set you'd like to sell, let me know.

They're Green, and I'm interested, but I'd need to know how many cycles and how close they are to new in terms of what charge they will hold.
