Re: P50/P51/P52/P53 Buying Advice
I'm looking to buy a used P50 series laptop with 4K display. I would like to get some feedback regarding which of the P50 series models in regards to overall less issues, from thermal throttling, keyboard quality (does they share the same keyboard and/or key travel?). Regards My i7-6820HQ 4K P50 ca...

Re: P50 quirks / troubles under W10
Yeah I find my cursor either drifts off to the far right or vanishes off screen momentarily. You can set a cursor finder in the settings. Where you hit the Ctrl key and it pings The cursor location on the screen with a pulsating bullseye. You can also set the cursor to center itself after a moment o...

I upgraded something for the the graphics during one of Lenovo’s recent updates and now 4K videos play smoothly. I think if these where wiped clean to sell second hand or refurbished and you buy one make sure you reinstall ALL the updates via the Lenovo software. Don’t rely on Windows 10 updates onl...

Re: Is this P50 worth the price?
I just picked up a fairly new condition P50 last week for under $600. I believe my config would have cost around $2700 back in Fall of 2016 (or $1500 to $2000 used at the time this thread was made). Had I bought it back then for $2700 I would have definitely returned it and stayed with my W500 longe...

Probably found one that accepted my non-US card, outside this forum, so am no longer looking. That was quick! I just purchased a fairly new P50 and been playing with it all week. Great PC for the prices you can get them at today. Only thing I'm still getting accustomed to, especially coming from ol...

Re: How is the W500 quality?
My W500 experience has been one of my best with a Thinkpad ever! It is a fast and cool running laptop on Windows 7 and the expansive screen real estate is a very useful. I paid under $200 for a fairly new condition W500 T9600 (battery cycle was in the 40s) with port replicator 8GB rams/320GB hd. It ...

Re: T400/T500/W500 Testimonies
I don't know...T410/420 and T/W510/520 don't seem to suffer from these problems. That is what I wondered too. Although the shorter, wider lids of the 510/520 models have less vertical leverage and pressure on the hinges. I think it is the sheer weight of the T500/W500 lids that leads to hinge/cage ...

Yeah it looks like 232A will have to do. Anyone used this drive? is it okay? or rather is it worth $100+?

I've had mine 2 weeks and even with the broken hinge/cage and a very dim Samsung WUXGA screen it is one of the best laptops I've owned. It is fast and very cool. One of the coldest laptops I've ever ran in my life. Best of all it is easy to modify the hardware and add on and take off stuff that you ...

Trying to decide what to buy here. It seems the cheaper of the two drives, the UJ-260, is faster and better but may not work on the W500 since it is an enhanced. What should I buy? I think that LG display is a WXGA and not a WUXGA. I've been googling and searching and can only find the LG panels in WXGA and the Samsungs in the WUXGA. I did find a couple of Sharp WUXGA displays but it definitely does not look plug and play at all. http://www.panelook.com/LP154WU1-TLA2_LG%20Dis...

Re: What is more reliable with better specs- t500/w500
There are two different WUXGA displays used in the W500. A LG and a Samsung. The LG reaches 220 nits when new (measured with X-Rite) and the Samsung 170 nits when new. (according to spec sheet) The SHARP display beats both of them with 250 nits when new. (measured with X-Rite) I have seen all three...

I just picked up the most powerful of the W500 family last week, a 4062-4HU , after reading this thread. I will say I am very impressed with the smooth and cool performance of the W500. I just did this job and it was super easy: Tips for anyone attempting this: 1. Before you even begin removing fru's you should buy a bag of Thinkpad replacement screws as a sound insurance policy against losing screws during the work. I have 8 gigs on my WinXP SP3 and I don't at all think my RAM is wasted. Running Intel 320 SSD and FancyCache (free stufff so far - a trial of 180 days that can be prolonged). The program allows to use the so-called "unmanageable RAM" as a disk cache. Allocated 5 gigs of "invisible memory" as disk ...
