Good luck for the sale, it's a very nice unit and by what i can see ... the location of that line on the lcd is so near the border that's practically not visible during operation

Doubt I would have more luck to find something ( I just tried ). I remember there were options back some years, but it's understandable that now is not like that anymore

Re: WTB older usb travel keyboard sk-8835, sk-8845 or parts

Well... the method I used was probably not standard... I've used a small brush, and used the bristles to get it to pop But I did only some letters... those do not have any metal underside, unlike the shift / spacebar and such. Personally I don't know if I would risk touching those One more question...

Rolling in random ways... I did what I felt could work, simply. ( and it depends on the brush dimension anyway )
Bottom line : played by ears, as I think it's said

Re: WTB older usb travel keyboard sk-8835, sk-8845 or parts

I've removed a couple of keycaps a couple of times on the travel one (since the silicon under got lightly softer and didn't allow autorepeat on keypress), but has been quite a mess. It feels easy to break everything

Hello,

you could try to contact this seller

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r463861444

and see if he would ship internationally. At least one seems working ( even if the screen backlight looks not optimal )

Re: FS: 10th gen i7 T420s, 6th gen i5 X40, 8th gen i5 X60

Interesting mods, but personally ( note, this is just a personal opinion ) I would not have used a panasonic let's note to bump up a classic thinkpad. Again personal opinion, but Let's Note and thoughbooks are on another level ( above ) thinkpads (the only issue they have, is that they can lose the ...

Re: X31 and alternatives to XP

You could dualboot, and so have the best of the 2 worlds, as they would say.
Alternative would be using a 2nd hdd in the ultrabay in the ultrabase , and boot the 2nd os from there

Re: X31 and alternatives to XP

Well, if you ever want to give it a try, check solydxk ... I've it on my x31 since a year or a bit more, and it's decently polished ( is based on Debian ). It's definitely quicker than XP ( that's what I had installed previously, and still have. I swapped out the hdd for a brand new 120gb ide I foun...

Re: X31 and alternatives to XP

Yes, the x31 cpu is not pae friendly. As you noted, there are less distributions that can be used... personally I would add Solydxy to the group, works quite well and it offers a better playback of multimedia files / youtube. (same goes for Raspbian)

No, the seller is in Berlin and not on ebay. He was briefly on a classified sites ( germany ) and that's how I got mine... I took a risk (but he accepted paypal goods, so no real risk) and it paid off. After I received it, i started chatting by email and that's how I found out why they got changed, ...

Thinkstation P500 - opinions

Hello,

I'm considering the option of getting one and I was wondering if anyone here would know possible issues , quirks , reasons to avoid , and so on.
One of my worries is the highly proprietary psu.

Re: [EU-FR] [WTS] W701 [WTT] X260 [WTTF] X61s, offers

Would you consider an x31 "made in Japan" ? how is it any different than other X3* ? Well, it's stamped as made in japan like an S30 would (it was purchased in Tokyo at the end of 2006), and the keyboard has also japanese characters. About the individual components manufacturing I have no clue
