Conventional computers will never replace tablets.

Re: To all Edge 13 owners!
I don't answer your question directly, but be careful (either if you want it, or if you are undecided to wait), the edge 13" has almost disappeared from the Lenovo website in USA and Canada, as I checked today.
Don't know if it means an update soon... probably.

New Thinkpad A series ?
According to that official website:
http://www.thinkingneverstops.com/think ... _range.php : A series: Coming soon.
Slightly different than the previous A series, as it is in small and medium business products?

I hope Lenovo is waiting for the AMD Brazos/Zacate for the X100e (and maybe the Edge 11), which seems really good for 18w: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4003/previewing-amds-brazos-part-1-more-details-on-zacateontario-and-fusion/1 http://mytechlogs.com/index.php/2010/09/15/amds-zacate-apu-performanc...

Re: Thinkpad Edge 11 with Intel Core ULV CPU?
There was an interesting article on Laptopmag.com about the American preference on large systems: Americans prefer large things, think SUV cars , huge houses, McDonald's Big Meal etc. For notebooks 15.6" is the sweet spot and even 17" sell well in the US. Nobody likes 14" and smaller. Main selling ...

It's like between Macbook and Macbook Pro: with the first one you get most of the features that make Mac a Mac, but without the premium feature (aluminium case).littlebighorn wrote:Why would the Edge not be considered a "real" TP?
The Thinkpad magnesium rollcage is a premium feature.

Re: Thinkpad Edge 11 with Intel Core ULV CPU?
According to what I've read around the web so far, it seems to be almost the best laptop of this size/price ratio. It solves the issues of the X100e. A matte finish display and I would perhaps be interested.
North America isn't surprisingly targeted for now.

I agree. Screen is still glossy, as every Thinkpad Edge. Already a review on Engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/28/lenovo-thinkpad-edge-11-review/ . But I am quite happy to see more Core ULV on Thinkpad. An X100e with Core ULV is possible. Nice one big panel: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadg...

Danoc, I agree fully. I received my L412 last week and am quite pleased with it. I am having trouble adjusting to the new trackpad and the lack of a thinklight. I was very annoyed by settings of the trackpad by default. Fortunately almost everything can be customized with the UltraNav drivers. Unde...

Re: L vs T
Has anyone had any real experience with both T410 and L412? My sister is contemplating and it's hard to justify the extra T-series features when the L is so much cheaper - for the same price as a "stripper" T410i, you can get an L412 with Core-i5, three-year warranty, and 1366xwhatever screen, vers...

Problem is to keep it alive for another 2 years. Perhaps a new battery. Another thing I wanted to add about recent Apple products: because of their miniaturization, lots of heat issues come up. Last week I have lost one Gb of Ram. That's a first. And the Macbook runs very hot underneath when it is ...

That's what I've said in the brackets. They dropped the prices. IBM Thinkpads used to be expensive, the X serie can still be considered as expensive. And the T510 is half the price of the Macbook Pro 17"! I remember the price range when I bought a R51 in 2004, versus T serie. That was respectively a...

If so, the 1.47" is the depth in the "rear" of the chassis? (Wanting to mostly make sure this isn't a lid-open vs lid-closed thing...) Yes it is. I have never seen specs showing the lid-open thickness. I remember tech sites spoke a lot about this thing when the Macbook Air and the X300 were release...

Re: T400 dimensions: varying (1.47/1.12") depth??
1.12" is the thinnest point of the laptop, 1.47" the thickest. The thickness isn't homogeneous.
