Hi, I have got a X220 (configured exactly as yours!), and a X230. In my case the X230 fan seems to be much quieter than the X220 one, but no idea about FRUs

Re: [X270] Type 20HN - upgrade to touchscreen ?
Swap done! I installed the X240 FHD screen in a X270, and verything works OK, except for the touchscreen, that doesn't seems to Work. What is strange is, that Windows 10 detects it and installs a generic driver for it. It can be seen in the device manager as a working device, but it doesn't work. Ma...

Re: [X270] Type 20HN - upgrade to touchscreen ?
Hi, I've got an X240 with touchscreen and I found a cheap X270, but it has got a TN panel in it. I'd like to buy it and swap the whole screen lid from the X240 to the X270, in order to have a X270 with FHD IPS display, but I don?t know if it is possible, even if the X270 board would support a touchs...

Re: X61 weird RAM problem
Change the BIOS (F1) boot method from quick to the alternative. Then test all the modules in the first slot to eliminate any bad RAM. Then switch a now known-good RAM module in the first slot and put another now known-good 4GB module in the second slot. It will take a long time to test on startup, ...

Re: X61s screen replacing & cpu temp questions
been a while since the last post but I'll add my 2 cents anyway imho buy the SXGA+ BOE hydis panel and do the mod - it will end up costing about the same as the XGA panel and is AFFS (similar to IPS) rather than one of the worst crimes against humanity of a TN panel you will ever come across I agre...

Re: X61 weird RAM problem
Try it with 1 4GB RAM in 1 slot, then the other slot. Then remove that RAM and try the other RAM in 1 slot, then the other slot. Do the same with the 2GB. Is it a bad slot or a bad module? It boots OK with only one module in the first slot, regardless of 2 or 4 Gb, but I have a couple of X61 and no...

X61 weird RAM problem
Hi, I've got a SXGA+ modded T8100 X61 that I've used for years. Last year it developed a strange problem: It began to power off randomly, reching to the point of not being able to start the OS completely. I suspected of the RAM (it had 8 Gb installed), and tried it with only one module: it works fla...

IMHO this is the best non ips WUXGA display for W500: Sharp lq154m1lw2a (or lq154m1lw02) I`ve installed one many years ago in my machine, and it is much brighter and crisper than the Samsung, with much better color reproduction too. Re: X9100 in T500 shuts down
The 289-W8J T500 has the integrated graphics chip, and he was actually referring to the X9100 idling at 57C. It is not the P8400 as you mistook it for, that wouldn't sound right for sure. Well, that processor sure heats up fast. About 7 seconds till shut down without thermal paste. With thermal paste it's idling around 57C! Not much hotter than the P8400. Re: X9100 in T500 shuts down
The X9100 has a TDP of 44W. T500 are designed for CPUs with a TDP of only 25 and 35W.
Could it be that your X9100 heats up too fast (E. g. dirty heathsink or bad applied thermal paste), and the system turns itself down because it can't handle the CPU's heat dissipation?

Re: Don't get ripped off on an SXGA+ screen for your X61/X62
Off topic but how was the TFT Mono screen on the LTE Lite 4/25E? I liked it, it was nice, with good contrast (in that era), and the "B/W effect" had a special charm. It was much better in terms of contrast than standard non TFT screens. I remember playing Transport Tycoon on it and never knowing if...

Re: IPS display for the older T500 and W500 series
Welcome to the forum! No IPS LCDs are to be found for *00 series, there's a LG one that fits T/W 510/20/30 and is FHD. A cable mod will likely be required. Was that LG display an IPS display? And what sort of cable mods will have to be made exactly? Forget it, T/W 510/20/30 are 16:9. T/W 500 are 16...

Re: IPS display for the older T500 and W500 series
Some WUXGA TN panels for the T61/T500/W500 weren't that bad. Years ago I had a WUXGA T61p. The LCD failed, and I replaced it with a Sharp, that happened to be much better than the older one. Some time after that, I bought a W500, that I still use. This W500 came with an awful, dim WUXGA from Samsung...

Re: Don't get ripped off on an SXGA+ screen for your X61/X62
Thank you for your comprehensive post! Too late for me, here's one that has been already ripped off. I suspected that, for the price I've paid (Eur 78, shipping included), there was a refurbished -or fake- LCD, but I tried it. I've been relatively lucky. I've the LCD already mounted in my X61, and c...

Re: A sturdy, modern successor to x200?
If you need something more powerful: a X220 or X230. Not so sturdy as a X200, but much faster. I had for a short period of time a X140 (the amd 2 cores model), and it wasn't faster than a X200. I sold it again. Too weighty for its size and too slow, and I don't think it is really sturdier than a X20...

Check Event Log. Thinkpad 10 shutdown after EXACTLY 30 minutes of use.
Hi, I have bought a TP 10 as second unit (I already have one). The seller sold it as working, but with defective battery that lasted only about half an hour. But to my (bad) surprise, the battery is 100% OK, it lasts still many hours. The problem is that the tablet keeps shutting itself down after 3...

Sorry to hear about your loss. But if you liked your R500 so much, maybe you should have gotten another R500/T500. They are cheap and cheerful nowadays. And with a beautiful Sharp WUXGA screen (1920x1200 and CCFL) you'd still be the envy of your colleagues, back on a classic keyboard and have the m...

Thinkpad Tablet 10: charging battery
Hi,
one thing I love in good old Tp is that you can manually set charging thresholds in power manager.
I fear it isn't possible, but, is there any way of manually setting charging thresholds in my little Thinkpad Tablet 10? It would be nice having this feature.

The X301 screens are very bright (300 nits!) but many complain they have pretty bad contrast, colors, and viewing angles. However, in real life, I don't think they are as bad as some say. I like a lot of things in X301. The SU9400 isn't powerful at all, but it works for normal everyday task. But I woldn't recommend a laptop having the "feature" of a LCD that makes feel me like if I had dirty glasses or like if I had to buy new ones. IMHO the worst LCD I've seen in a Thinkpad, by far....

I have done the LCD-replacement for IPS a few times, it's easy enough. I have both X220 and X230 but never tried a lid-swap. The lids look identical in every way though. I'm 99.999% sure it would be a straight swap. X220 LCD lid has got a Bluetooth LED indicator that is missing on the X230's lid (A...
