Re: What does the heatsink in a R60 with a ATI x1400 looks like?
Thank you very much! This is exactly what I was looking for. Now I will try to acquire one of these heatsinks, once I do so and everything is in order, I will share how it look like to the community :) Best regards Go for the W500 heatsink, the ATI GPUs run very hot (65-70 celsius). With the W500 H...

Re: T61 heatsink compatibility
This is a rare subject. I tried to transplant a T61 14" widescreen heatsink to another T61 14" widescreen (one had the T7250 and the other T7300 CPU) and they didn't fit. I had to remove the fan from the assembly and replace the one in the other assembly.

Is your thermal paste in good shape? Does your heatsink make effective contact with the die? Maybe is a thermal issue activating the protections, but i can be wrong.

Re: Best way to upgrade RAM and SSD on a T61 without overheating?
I don't think the RAM and SSD could be a problem with your thermal issues. I would clean heatsink and fan(Separate the fan from the heatsink assembly and make sure that there is nothing blocking the output), remove old thermal paste and repaste if I were you. My experience with messing with the fan...

Re: Musings on making a T42 dual boot XP and 98se
I'm trying to do the exact same thing as you. I have a refurbished T42 that I reinstalled the factory XP image with all the IBM goodies, now I'm trying to install 98SE on it in a dual boot configuration. Since neither XP nor Win98 setup seem able to split existing partitions, I used a third-party t...

Meanwhile I managed to secure that Reserve Edition 8 cell battery, and managed to open mine up, recell it, and tested it fully working on a X61s. E430 Whitelist removal
Is there a way to remove the whitelist of the E430? I searched for a modified BIOS but haven't found any. Does someone has an alternate BIOS that i can use? I want to update the wifi card but it won't boot with it.

T21 compatible TN panels
I want to know what laptops can i use to take the 14.1 panel out to replace the one on my T21 laptop. It's a 14.1.XGA panel that is dead, but the laptop is Alive after a resistance soldering. Any suggestions?

I soldered the 2.2 kOhm resistor to the adp3421 chip and now the laptop works. Only need a compatible TN panel.Gonzaleitor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 9:55 pm

Re: T21 brief flash of HDD lamp when powering on
Ok I worked out this is known as BOD. I've ordered some of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153217409983 because it seems that either a 2k resistor or a new chip would be in order.... My question is, should I also try the 2kohm resistor between pins 24 and 16 instead of replacing the chip, or just ...

Re: Convert 14” Keyboard to 15”?
OK, I am confused. I have both a 14" and a 15" keyboard. Held them up side by side and none of the posts under the mouse buttons at the bottom line up. You'd have to remove at least two posts at the bottom and not have it secured at the bottom at all to fit a 14" KB into a 15" case. It's hard to te...

Maybe your adapter is just not compatible with your T43. Thats an ide to mSATA adapter, not an M2.

I have an IDE to M2 adapter and works great. You got lucky then. There are reports of IDE to M.2 or mSATA adapters working fine on the T43 (and similar models), but AFAIK the problematic ones are more common. Some forum members have speculated that having the same bridge chip on both the IDE port a...

The SSD i'm using is a M2 SATA, not an NVME.

I did it, You have to cut one of the stand offs (I don't remember wich one right now), it's pretty simple. If You do it carefully there shouldn't be any damage, just check wich one is the one in the way and cut it.
