Re: X1 Titanium SSD upgrade
I ended up buying the ThinkPad 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 2242 SSD Part #: 4XB1B85887 which is the Lenovo recommended part. It's ~ $250 but I waited until it was on sale for ~$200. Installation was simple.....loosen the captive screws, use a tool to open the back cover and replace the drive. Remember to disc...

Re: X1 Titanium SSD upgrade
I see the VisionTek DLX4 2242 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD (NVMe) - 1TB on the Dell site. It's M-key but I can see a pic to see if it's single or 2-sided.

Re: X1 Titanium SSD upgrade
Thanks for getting back so quickly. It's machine type: 20QBS0TB00. Gen 1. I just ordered it so I haven't opened it up to check on the installed drive yet. I believe it's a PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe SSD. I was hoping someone had done the upgrade on a similar unit.
Thanks

X1 Titanium SSD upgrade
Hello,
I'm interested in recommendations for a 1tb M.2 SSD for the X1 Titanium Yoga. I know it's 2242 form factor but wasn't sure which Lenovo or other brand SSD would work. Crucial? Visiontek? Sabrent?
Thanks

No luck so far for me. I've had to resort to a 256 GB SD card to boost my storage.

Motherboard replacement problem
I have an X220 that showed an error with the network connector. I spoke with Lenovo and they arranged to replace it under warranty. I wasn't home during the repair, but my wife called and told me that my x220 was not booting into windows 7 ultimate. It gets passed the login screen, there's the spinn...

Re: x1 carbon SATA (not SSD) drive format?
I have a 1st Gen X1 Carbon Touch (Type 3448) with the 256 GB SSD. Is there ANY option to upgrade to 512 or did I get in a dead end upgrade-wise? I tried a Crucial M550 M.2 2280 512 GB drive but the connector was different. Did I get stuck with a max of 256?

Problems with bit locker
I have an x220 running W7 enterprise on the 320 main drive. I was happily working and got an "I/o" error message and the machine shut down. When I reboot it give me a bit locker error saying that the boot info has changed and to supply the key. I do that and it goes to repair or start normally. If I...

Re: Wifi cards- 2 out of 3 ain't bad?
Well i found an Intel 6205 on Ebay for $30 and bought it. Although it looks OK (no 'engineering sample' and the correct FRU number) I installed it, it tried to install drivers but failed. There's no indication in device manager that the hardware is installed. The seller won't take it back despite ha...

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure that I COULD use 2/3 without causing problems. Can anyone shed light on the "Engineering Samples"? Do they work OK?

Wifi cards- 2 out of 3 ain't bad?
I want to upgrade my T420s Thinkpad b/g/n card to either an Intel 6205 or 6250. I've seen these cards for sale, but they may have 3 antenna connectors and the T420s has only 2. Is it OK to only use the 2 side antennas and skip the center on the card? Also, what are these "engineering samples" that I...

Does it work well to take a 3 antenna card (6250) and put it in a 2 antenna T420s? Or should I look for a 2 antenna card?

Looking in the tech manual, it looks like swapping it for the Thinkpad b/g/n card should be straightforward. Am I correct?

Upgrade T400s Hard Drive
My plans to upgrade my wife's T400s 250GB hard drive and clean install 64bit Win 7 were thrown out the window when I discovered it to be a 1.8" not a 2.5" drive. I've started looking and haven't seen a lot to replace it (I upped my 2.5" X61s to 500GB..sigh). Can anyone tell me my best options, short...

Clone HD to different model?
A friend of mine just picked up a T410s and wants to clone his current X61 HD (running Win 7-64 enterprise with bitlocker) to the new machine. I'm trying to convince him to do a clean install but he wants to try it. If he does, what happens with the incorrect drivers? Will the Lenovo Toolbox just in...

Convert Depot to In-home
A friend is selling their X201T with extended warranty and TP protection. It's depot rather than "in-home". Is it possible to change that as I prefer the benefits of "in-home" service? It's still within the first year (6/10 purchase date).
Thanks

I'm looking at a friend's netbook that has Win 7 Home Premium installed, along with several other programs like Office, PS etc. I have a Win 7 Pro upgrade CD ( ISO as well as an EXE version). Do I need to do a clean install to upgrade or is there an easier way...either with the new key or from withi...

The tech came, installed both fans (man he had to take it pretty much completely apart!) and re-assembled it without a problem. I watched him and he never looked at the drive and was very careful with it.
Runs great now...very quiet.

Replace original HD for service call?
The fan on my X61s just died (thanks Win 7 24 hour backup!). Lenovo's coming out to replace it under warranty. Do I need to re-install my original HD or is it OK to leave my self-upgraded one in? I don't want to mess with the warranty although I don't believe it's associated.
Thanks
