Hey all,
In the next couple of weeks I may need (read: probably) will be sending my T42 in for service. My USB ports display the "Hi-Speed Plugged into Non Hi-Speed" message (which I've seen others mention requires a motherboard to fix...there had been no hardware/software changes when it showed up and I've been using the same USB key and I've reinstalled the drivers a few times) and there's a dark spot on my LCD which I noticed back in December but didn't have time to get fixed (it has since spread a bit).
So 2 questions:
1) With those in the New York City area, has anyone had experience with both onside and depot service? I have the onsite warranty, but it may be easier for me to use the depot this time around (travelling and I don't need my laptop). Which in your opinion, has been better?
2) The spot on my LCD may or may not meet the repair standard (I'm not sure what it is). Assuming I need a new LCD (I believe someone mentioned a piece may just be misaligned), would it be easier to "convince" an on-site tech to replace it, or the depot?
Thanks in advance,
Adam
