I started work at a new contract this week. My workstation is a Compaq Evo (I *know*), and came with a well-used and finger-grease-encrusted mouse... with a ball.
So I went mouse shopping, and as much as I hate to buy anything made in China (or any country where they can't vote out the bums), I bought a Kensington Mouse in a Box Optical Elite. See their page on it here: http://www.kensington.com/html/4011.html
It was cheap, was black, and optical, uses USB and comes with a PS/2 adapter, had a couple extra buttons and looked pretty good to my eyes.
When I got it out of the box, I found the big bonus: It's covered in the same cool black rubbery compound found on ThinkPads! Woohoo!
So now I have to was my hands 11 times a day lest I smudge my new toy.
IE6 recognized the extra back and forward buttons without any software install.
