i'm having trouble connecting to my wireless N router. status is connected but there is no internet. windows diagnostic says reset modem but it doesn't work.
by the way my t61 with 3945ABG has no problems. the t43p has 2200BG and the modem is huawei hg530 from my ISP.
thanks,
jay

Re: t43P wireless N upgrade
Just for diagnosis: have you tried setting the router to g or b/g mode to see if it works then?

With TTAV134's BIOS and the proper drivers you should be in (fast) business!
The NO-1802 trick does NOT work in a T43/R52, that's only for T42/R51 and lower/older.

Re: t43P wireless N upgrade
finally got this to work without tweaking the router or buying a new wifi card.
i uninstalled the driver found by win7. downloaded the xp driver from intel, run it in compatibility mode. works flawlessly
thanks for the input gentlemen.

Re: t43P wireless N upgrade
just a quick update
although the xp driver works, it makes thinkvantage access connections crash. i tried the vista driver, also installed in compatibility mode. it also works and it doesnt make access connections crash. now my t43p networking wired/wireless works flawlessly on windows 7. access connections, including Fn+F5 works perfectly.

thanks for linking to the Broadcom mini PCI adapter (first one in post). I've just upgraded my T43 with it (model 2668 w/modded bios).RealBlackStuff wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/WiFi-N-802-11n- ... 0752575085

Now I have 802.11n capability, at the cost of lower signal reception (using inSIDDer, some networks seem to be more affected than others). I'm keeping the Intel 2915ABG card as a spare for situations where 802.11n reception are less important than signal strength.
Note that this adapter requires only 2 antennas and is 5GHz capable.
Re: t43P wireless N upgrade
FYI for anyone else interested in a similar upgrade: the TP-LINK TL-WN861N adapter uses an Atheros chipset and should work well under Linux and FreeBSD. You can get one from Amazon for $25.01 shipped. There's a three-antenna variant too: TL-WN961N.
Need help with Linux or FreeBSD? PM or catch me on IRC: I'm ThinkRob on FreeNode and EFnet.

Note that the TP-LINK card, like many TP-LINK products, only supports the 2.4 GHz range.ThinkRob wrote:FYI for anyone else interested in a similar upgrade: the TP-LINK TL-WN861N adapter uses an Atheros chipset and should work well under Linux and FreeBSD. Note that the abilities of the Broadcom card are not completely clear. It's 5 GHz capable, but maybe that's just restricted to 802.11a.
The vendor ID for broadcom is 0x14e4, and the device ID for the broadcom 802.11n card is 0x432c; google suggests that this is 2.4GHz only in 802.11n mode.
Re: t43P wireless N upgrade
That is a good point and is definitely worth noting if you have an AP that runs on the 5 GHz band.FrankL wrote: Note that the TP-LINK card, like many TP-LINK products, only supports the 2.4 GHz range.
