Replacment battey
Replacment battey
I need to replace my battery. Should I buy one from IBM or should I by a cheaper company e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Thinkpad-T6 ... 37012#shId
also i seems like there are different types of 9 cell batteries 6.6, 7.2, 7.8 Amp/hr and I don't really understand how that could be.
also any thoughts about Ultrabay Batteries would be appreciated. http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/cont ... lsTabsArea
any advice on the subject would be good, as well as suggestions of retailers.
thank you all

The eBay link is to a compatible (not original) battery. Most eBay batteries are not original.
If you want a genuine Lenovo battery, try IBM Israel. Their prices are fair. Try getting FRU 42T4620 - it's a Panasonic and should last longer.
Also, take a look at the market place here. Sometimes guys have batteries to sell here in various conditions.

Batteries have discharge rates measured in Amp/hr. As the name suggests, it indicates how long the battery will last at a given a steady drain. My rule of thumb is to get the largest Amp/hr you can if I can afford it. If your TP requires less amps, it just takes more time to run the battery down.
Hope this helps answer this part of your question.

6.6Ah is original T40-T42 batteries. With T43 they introduced 7.2Ah (which is compatible with the rest of T4x).
The original production of T6x batteries was 7.8Ah, although apparently later they also had some batches of 7.2Ah.

I've been through a fair share of knockoffs and OE batteries on my T30 and T61.yup wrote:thanks!

The knockoffs go about a year before they either quit abruptly or lose capacity.
The OE batteries you get about 3 years.
Makes it about a wash in the end. If you can stomach the price of an IBM battery go for it just for the less hassle of replacement every year.
