X32 Is the Graphics Chips bonded with Epoxy Glue?

#1 Post by poshgeordie » Mon Aug 27, 2012 1:27 pm

I normally lurk on the T4x forums and first time here.

Can anyone tell me if, like the T43, the X32 Graphics chip is bonded to the motherboard with clear epoxy glue along the sides of the chip?

I'm not talking about red, black or orange dots at the chip corners, but rather clear epoxy which looks opaque coloured along the sides of the chip.

The reason for asking this is a customer has asked to have the ATI GPU on his X32 Infrared Reballed and we've not done one of these before.

Many thanks in advance

I happen to have an almost identical X31 open here.
I can see under the GPU board, all around, does not seem to have any glue there whatsoever.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
