Spy Sweeper and Mcafee

Hello forum,

I'm new here. I own an Internet business and heard great things about ThinkPads. As we're meeting a little success - not proftis - but things are going up, I thought I'd upgrade to the awesome ThinkPad. So far I love mine.

I bought the T500 with about middle to upper upgrades. The real test is if I can continue to love it without the problems and un-reliability I've experienced with my previous lesser-expensive laptops.

HERE's my question:

I bought the T500 with the 3 year largest McAfee Internet security option pre-loaded. It's working great. Also I have activated my Windows Vista FireWall and Defender. In an attempt to provide the most security, I talked to Geek Squad at Best Buy whom recommended running Spy Sweeper in addition to my already exisiting security. I haven't installed SpySweeper yet. Do you all recommend or not recommend installing the Spy Sweeper in addition to my already mentioned security.

My Spy Sweeper version is only the Spy Sweeper, not the anti-virus model. Thanks for the help, Anthony

I find most of that junk more trouble than it's worth. I don't even use virus software. I find a decent firewall to be more than sufficient. I don't know, maybe your business needs are different. Here's what I do, do a clean install, you'll need a Windows disc for this. I get it just the way I like it - apps, settings, drivers, etc., then make an image of the install with cloning software. I use DiscWizard, which is a variation of True Image. You can put the image back in minutes should the need arise like if you were to get a virus for example. I keep my data on a separate partition, so it won't get touched during a re-imaging.
