Windows 7 Clean Install on T440S

#1 Post by R.J. » Wed Mar 04, 2015 12:27 am

So I have Windows 7 64 bit installed already, but it's full of bloatware. I wanted to do a clean install and called tech support to send me the original OS disc, however I received 4 discs and can't seem to make heads or tails of what's on them. Furthermore, there's no cd key anywhere on the machine or on the discs.

Can I just use another Windows 7 64bit pro disc and just call to get the product key that came with my machine or is the OS on one of these discs? Can I also just install the drivers and software I want from Lenovos support site instead of being forced to install all the garbage on these discs?

If anyone has a helpful tutorials or hints, that would be awesome.

You may download one here. I've done it and just put in the key, though it's usually better to put the key in after installing, then activate it.

P.S. - We'd prefer it if you'd put your location in your profile.

COA can often been found under the battery.
If it came with W8 or W8.1 ex factory, the key will be stored in a BIOS-EEPROM and there is no COA.

But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
