Suggested Lenovo (and ms) bloatware that can be removed
I'm finally getting my T61s set up with windows 7 with the Lenovo recovery discs.
I like to know what folks here consider to be bloatware that can be uninstalled, and what I should Not remove. Thanks in advance.
PS I'm already up to speed on not installing the telemetry and w10 "updates".

The only two things that I keep are Power Manager and Hotkey utility. Depending on your needs, Access Connections may be useful as well. Everything else gets on the chopping block.

Well, that would definitely be a Clean install. I'm going to go through the stuff in it and list delete candidates here.
Two particularly annoying ones are what looks like a college graduation mortarboard on the left end of the task bar and a grey icon on the right ens, biatching about running diags and backups. Puhleeze. I manage all this myself.

That's the infamous Lenovo Solution Center, get rid of it.

And while you're at it, also remove the Message Center Plus if found. And Shareit. More bloatware...

Also remove any of the programs below if you have them:
Lenovo Warranty Information (useless after a fresh install and after warranty expires)
Lenovo System Update (paired with Adobe Air, an equal pain as well)
Lenovo Welcome (no idea what this even is)
SimpleTap (if you want to use the ThinkVantage key for something else, just change the 8001 registry key).

Re: Suggested Lenovo (and ms) bloatware that can be removed
Thanks everyone.
I was wondering what the welcome program was too, and I don't see it in all programs.
I don't see lenovo solution center in all programs either, but I saw an update on it - might have been to delete it, but no, lenovo would not be that gracious.
I'm already piasseded off at the thinkvantage key which showed its uselessness on bootup as I noted in the T61 pages.
But what is wrong with system update?
And what's the verdict on thinkvantage toolbox? Is there Anything this does that a competent person can't do with the tools built into w1ndoze's control panel. etc?? If it was something that Wasn't Always running, it might be good fora quick view, but because you can't shut it off, it Seems to be a waste of CPU cycles to me. I don't like programs that you can't close and exit from.

Re: Suggested Lenovo (and ms) bloatware that can be removed
I'll have to admit most of these other programs were on my T430 version of Windows 7, so I wasn't sure if (or when) Lenovo shipped these programs with Windows 7 recovery discs.
If I'm not mistaken Lenovo Software Update updates the programs in the posts above that users deemed as bloatware.
