2nd set of eyes on a Data Sheet Tri-Path 2020

#1 Post by jronald » Tue Aug 20, 2024 6:53 am

So I messing with a many year old Tripath 2020 amplifier. Im trying to definitively nail down the DC input voltage. On the data sheet I have seen 12, 14.6 and 16 volts. It appears the best measurements were at 14.6 volts. Just need a 2nd set of eyes to confirm what I think Im seeing.

Thanks

On page 2 under the heading Absolute Maximum Ratings Vdd = 16V is specified. Going higher than Vdd of 16V may damage the component.

In the table labeled Operating Conditions Vdd limits are a minimum of 8.5 and a maximum of 14.6 with a typical value of 13.5V. The component is specified to be functional over the range 8.5 to 14.6V. The performance specifications on page 3 were all with Vdd = 13.5V which is the standard power supply voltage. The performance graphs on page 7 also are taken at Vdd=13.5V.

There was a graph in the middle somewhere showing pest RMS output power was at 14.6 ..... Anyway, thats what I was thinking, any voltage not to exceed the 16.

Thanks

In the chart on page 3 there is an output power spec at 13.5V and then next the data is repeated at 14.6V. This is pushing the device as far as it will go essentially. All the other data in the document is taken at 13.5V which is where I would operate the device.
