701c keyboard feel vs 600?
Which one of those keyboards feel better when typing?
Also, are there any good screen upgrades for the 701c and how feasible would it be to put a modern netbook motherboard with an ulv processor in there

The 701C's keyboard is junk. The 600X is like comparing a mechanical keyboard to a crummy rubber dome keyboard. The 600X's keyboard is GREAT!!!

O i c. Any difference between the 600x and 600 and 600e other than cpus and motherboards? They got the same keyboard or is it slightly different like some t60s had 3 slightly different keyboards even if they looked the same

TBH the only advantage of the 701c keyboard is that the rubber domes don't wear to mush after a long period of time. If there was a replacement I'd replace them immediately. Also putting in a netbook motherboard is not going to get you very far. Either go for a AMD-5x86 motherboard or use an SOC like Vortex86, or something with an Intel Atom or Pentium and Hack the keyboard and trackpoint to USB. You can find a VGA controller on
ebay for a decent price that works with the DF9 adapter. If you want a standalone screen upgrade Thinkpadby3 found a possible IPS screen replacement somewhere on the forums. If you want to try cramming an external VGA controller with stock parts there is also a 1024 screen somewhere on ebay...

For me, every 600 I list as a 600X, just because I do it naturally.Alexanders wrote:O i c. Any difference between the 600x and 600 and 600e other than cpus and motherboards? 600 series keyboards are the best compared to any other thinkpad I have used. Travel, crispness, response, no flex, really all of it is excellent. The other keyboard that comes close is the one in the X300/X301 IMO. The 701 keyboard feels nice, but it isn't really a comparison.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, A31p, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

I've personally never tried the 600* keyboard, but the X301 has a GREAT keyboard! I wish I could put it on other Thinkpads but it has a bigger connectorbrchan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2017 1:49 pm600 series keyboards are the best compared to any other thinkpad I have used.
