Re: Which Internet browser is quickest?

Erm... Flock uses the same engine as Firefox. In fact, Flock is actually a larger codebase than Firefox IIRC, as it's really just Firefox plus a bunch of "social networking" integration.topmahof wrote:flock is faster than chrome. i never see anybody using flock but i've never had any problems whatsoever with it. i've had firefox crash and burn, ie8, forget it, too insecure. chrome has no options.

My journey.. IE3.x Netscape 3.x IE4 & Navigator 4.0 Opera IE5/IE6 Firefox Now: Chrome + Opera
Offlate firefox was too much of a hog.. cpu & memory with very few addons. Chrome is perfect with a few addons and does not need to restart to enable disable add ons.

I used to be a Firefox fan, but its performance on Linux has been pretty awful (degraded a lot after they switched to sqlite). Those extensive disk writes that make the gui unusable were driving me mad. I've never been a fan of Opera, so I was kinda stucked with FF.
I switched to Chrome a few months ago and I'm not looking back. Awesome performance, flash videos play smoothly..
My only beef with it was the adblock extension, which worked quite differently than the Firefox one (hide ads after loaded instead of no loading at all). But fortunately, webkit folks introduced a new browser event and Chrome incorporated it as well, so now adblock works as it should.

Hard to beat Chrome nowadays, Opera's getting close. Firefox rarely gets launched and if I'm unfortunate enough to be using a Windows machine, I avoid IE as well.

For a slow connection you could use the Opera Turbo mode which reduces your traffic through Opera proxies.Marin85 wrote:You don´t need a fast browser for a slow connection. You need a slow browser for such connections!
Opera Mini on your desktop would even use less traffic : http://my.opera.com/larskl/blog/2008/03 ... -1280-1024 (but it's a bit of an extreme solution
