Very nice pics, pianowizard.
I find it a bit awkward to have the big 2407 monitor off-center, but I guess it's a necessary compromise to allow two more laptops on the desk.
It's amazing that you keep a PC for DOS games. I used to have one myself until recently, when I "donated" it to my dad (who only uses it to type in Word 7.0 on Windows 95).

I updated the office photo because I got the Dell desktop two months ago and the T43p last week. I'm so happy with my setups!

So the T42 really cannot output WUXGA via the analog port? I'm surprised.

Re: My setups (including an unusual way to use my 240Z!)
Ooops, what I wrote was wrong ("VGA output limitation"). Instead, it is the HDTV's VGA input limitation, not the T42's output limitation. For a computer to fully utilize this HDTV's 1920x1200, I need to use the HDMI input. I could do this by getting a DVI signal from the T42 through a dock, and then convert the DVI to HDMI with an adaptor. But I hate docks and so I am just using the VGA output. I am using this T42-Hannspree setup just to watch low-def videos, so I don't need the whole 1920x1200.dr_st wrote:So the T42 really cannot output WUXGA via the analog port?
Of course, the T42 can output 1920x1200 without any problem.

Man, i sure do love the looks of the i-series in the first photo. Such a nice looking machine, refreshingly different with it's gray coat, but still shares the classic thinkpad resemblence. Also, nice setups.

Re: My setups
These days at work, I have been using all 8 monitors, both desktops and my Latitude laptop simultaneously. So, I thought I should take a pic and upload it to this thread.
Sorry, I don't have Thinkpads any more, but at least I have 4 Lenovo L220X monitors!

Re: My setups
At this point you should consider adding two more keyboard + mouse sets, maybe even wireless, at the two corner monitors.

What could possibly require seven(!) monitors? I am a research scientist and I do complicated data analysis. I admit that I usually use "only" 5 of these monitors but there are times when I need all 7. Think about it, I have a total of 18 megapixels!DaKKS wrote:What could possibly require seven(!) monitors? My sister does graphical design and three is enough for her...

Jesus, its gotta be really complicated to require 7 monitors...pianowizard wrote:I am a research scientist and I do complicated data analysis. I admit that I usually use "only" 5 of these monitors but there are times when I need all 7. Think about it, I have a total of 18 megapixels!
What kind of resolution are you running on? And how did you hook up the monitors? TH2G/DH2G or separate cards?
And I thought three desktop monitors was overkill. I run two desktop monitors, a TV and a wall mounted 19" RSS/News/Weather feed on my main rig. That way I can run dev software one one screen, game on the other or watch a movie on the third. And if it all goes to hell I can read news on the forth.

Re: My setups
For my scientific work, sometimes it would actually be helpful to have even more than 7 monitors, like 25 to 30, because I need to resolve fine details in prolonged electrophysiological recordings. If I upgrade the power supply of this computer, it should be feasible to use up to 30 monitors but I would need a much larger desk.DaKKS wrote:Jesus, its gotta be really complicated to require 7 monitors...

Right, I think the two major things we've discovered here is that you're never, ever going to find a wallpaper, and you're a lot smarter than I am, because I have no bloody clue what that means....pianowizard wrote: For my scientific work, sometimes it would actually be helpful to have even more than 7 monitors, like 25 to 30, because I need to resolve fine details in prolonged electrophysiological recordings.
