X301 Displayport compatibility with DVI/HDMI?
Been reading up on DisplayPort here:
http://www.edn.com/article/CA6594089.html
My question is, can you / have you successfully connect(ed) a DVI or HDMI monitor to the X301 via the DisplayPort? I am particularly interested in DVI.
It appears DisplayPort is based on an entirely different protocol than DVI/HDMI and therefore incompatible. However the article mentions DVI/HDMI signals can be passed through the connector. According to the article you need an adapter, which shifts the required voltages, but does not perform a signal conversion. It would be up to the X301 to detect the adapter and connected monitor and switch the DisplayPort output to a DVI or HDMI signal when required.

Re: X301 Displayport compatibility with DVI/HDMI?
Can anyone confirm or deny that using a display port to HDMI adapter will work on the X301? I'm specifically interested in the audio as it seems from what I've read to not work with other thinkpads. Thanks in advance.

Re: X301 Displayport compatibility with DVI/HDMI?
I'm pretty darn sure ThinkPads are not carrying audio over displayport/hdmi. I'd think if that were a feature, it would be touted pretty highly. There's nothing in the Intel mobile chipset regarding audio over displayport/hdmi.

Re: X301 Displayport compatibility with DVI/HDMI?
Hi, I connected my X301 to my samsung TV via HDMI with a StarTech Display Port to HDMI adapter (DP2HDMI) and there was no audio carried over.
I was doing it because I was experimenting with using XBMC as a mythTV frontend with my X301. Failed miserably.
The Intel display drivers could not bring the screen to a native resolution for the TV which is somewhere around 13XX by 7XX ( I cannot remember the exact res.)

Lenovo said on lenovo blogs that x301 displayport does not support audio. It maybe in the upcoming chipset.
