Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
You haven't sent out the next set of emails, right? That is to say, to resell those existing unpaid 29 orders? I just don't wanna miss it
[Edit]: Got it and paid. Just as a note, mine didn't go to spam using gmail.

Is anyone here going to SHA2017 (Dutch Hacker camp, see https://sha2017.org ) next week? It would be great to meet someone using, or interested in, the FHD mod there!

I didn't miss the boat for the next batch did I? I submitted my email a couple of weeks ago if I remember correctly.

The next batch is not yet sent to factory - I want to make it large enough to fit all pre-orders.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Ok thanks! Is there any ghosting with the LP125WF2-SPB4? I have the IPS screen on my x230 right now and have bad ghosting with white images.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
I have a similar screen on my X230 and there is no ghosting. If a window is left open long enough, a temporary "screen burn-in" occurs but Im pretty sure thats a side effect of IPS screens in general.post_break wrote:Ok thanks! Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

No, that is some model specific issue. SPB3/SPB4 don't have such effect at all.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 8:35 amIf a window is left open long enough, a temporary "screen burn-in" occurs but Im pretty sure thats a side effect of IPS screens in general.

My Thinkpad Yoga has the same issue. Does that also have a series B1 screen?nitrocaster wrote:No, that is some model specific issue. Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Awesome! That's what I wanted to hear. I can't wait to get this installed! I had to regedit to get the chrome address bar to be any color than white due to burn in and ghosting. I wish I could order the screen now so I have it for when the board comes in but don't want to risk it if the screen doesn't work after the return period.nitrocaster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 8:39 amNo, that is some model specific issue. Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
So, here are some news. Since I'm experiencing severe issues with getting payments for 2nd batch pre-orders, I'm going to tweak pre-order procedure a little bit.
Pre-order confirmation will now require making a deposit of $10 which would help me cover material costs, and which is some guarantee that you are somewhat serious about buying it. I'm pretty sure that's going to help me deliver the 3rd batch much faster than previous batches.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
What should do those of us who had made a pre-order?
Will you send pre-payment instructions?
It would be really nice to have some sort of pre-order tracking

I haven't decided yet, but I think so.
Indeed. I could try implement that.

I'm going to finish dispatching the 2nd batch just as before and start accepting deposits from those who turned out to be in the 3rd batch.

Hi, Is it going to be one big batch or two smaller batches? Just curious as I am probably toward the end of your list. Thanks.nitrocaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 7:04 pmI'm going to finish dispatching the 2nd batch just as before and start accepting deposits from those who turned out to be in the 3rd batch.

Might as well give everyone an ID on registration at that point. File your order, pay 10$ and get a number. Then just announce what range is currently in queue / being built / awaiting payment / shipped.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Ouch what a bummerQ: Does this mod support X220T/X230T?
A: No. It's technically possible to design special version of the adapter board that would fit in tablet, but then you'll need to replace the screen. Which, again, is technically possible, but not really doable.

If you really need graphics capabilities, a new yoga suits well. I use one for my graphics capabilities while all other activities on the x230.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Hi, I decided to buy a LP125WF2 SPB3 screen from win0win on ebay, as recommended by nitrocaster. The seller's policy is to ask the LCD screen part number in order to be sure that the model is the correct one, as they do not accept returns.
How do I find this code? for the record, I'm using an x220.
thanks!

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
I ordered from him spb4, 4 days ago. I wrote to him in message, that i want exactly spb4.
I think he means do you want spb4 or spb3

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
My kit arrived today
Suggested display (1st post on page 1) is sold out and I found (fingers crossed) correct display for similar amount of $$$:
https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.h ... 2809228844
Now the real problem is that I don't have X230, yet
Hopefully by the end of the month this will be solved, too!
Edit: and big thanks to nitrocaster
