I think we should have a white slider on the right side to add to it. How about a brightness slider on the dispaly housing. Go all 760 series with a volume slider on keyboard. Its "retro" right?

4:3, Portable, productive, 2 variations; track-pad and without track-pad.

Image

Image

Features:
Anti-glare ThinkLight
Slim bezel
8 Function buttons
3 Track-pad buttons
2 Variations; track-pad and without track-pad, which do not change price when customizing via Lenovo.com
And everything positive which usually comes from UltraBooks; battery+, small+, slim+, specifications+

Notice there are no LED indicators? That is for the 8 functions buttons. They can be assigned via ThinkFunction software to switch parameters such as:

Mute
Volume up
Volume down
Microphone mute
Display brightness up
Display brightness down
ThinkLight on/off
WLAN
WWAN
Bluetooth

The colour of the function buttons LED can be changed via ThinkFunction software, so you memorize the blue LED which turns WLAN on, or red mutes and unmutes. ThinkPad functions buttons are pre assigned to useful parameters so there is no initial setting up. There are more parameters than there are function buttons. Because of this, the user can adjust a parameter via a Fn + spacebar, a drop down will appear with parameters which have not been assigned to function buttons; Bluetooth, WWAN - the uncommon perhaps?

Would you buy 1?

Very nice! I like the P-series style trackpad buttons. I don't think the extra buttons are necessary though since the existing hotkeys work well enough for me.
Thanks, track-pad buttons seem to be on the out sadly. 3 buttons is something I really appreciate

Very nice! I would love to have those dedicated buttons for brightness etc! Now, can you do one with 13,3" 16:10 screen without a trackpad so that I have something to hang on my wall? :D I´m joking, no need for that.

Regarding the screen ratio on the Thinkpad 25, do you guys think it will be a 16:10 or 16:9? I actually think it will be 16:10 since David mentioned the "beautiful" screen in his blog. I don´t think he would have mentioned the screen at all if it was´nt anything special about it. What do you guys think?

The refreshed P-series has better screens now. Maybe he is referring to the OLED screen.

I think while the work of 6G7hg is great, we could use more - much more - squareish screen. Now THIS baby has enough vertical screen estate to display Clint Eastwood from head to toes, and 2 pdf documents next to him:) Had to extend the base too a bit (probably not enough). Enjoy:)

I asked for the screen to close, not stick out like a sore thumb injected with saline. Need bigger palmrests. I maybe Thinkpad4by3 but thats just TOO much screen realestate. 16:10 is good for 15.4". On the otherhand: 13.3" I will take 4:3 anyday. How the hell will that fit in my bag.

It will fit Clint Eastwood but not a Clint Eastwood movie hahahahaha!!!

Nice edit regardless :)

Am I the only one noticing a hint a of similarity between what Hill tweeted and how Trump tweets ?

"It was epic." => How old is this guy? Next up he'll start using LOL etc.

He did a "special confidential briefing", did he now? Wow that's so awesome David! You rock my brother! I soo wanted to be there.

He "disclosed" design details. I bet you were waiting to be able to drop that one, didn't you David?

Perhaps "David Hill" can put on gangster clothes and take selfies with this so awesome retro ThinkPad and upload them to twitter. Or maybe a vlog of his activities. Anything disposable that can be used as a tool will do, David. Another idea: a popular 4:3'er on this very forum can be 'persuaded' of embracing this retro ThinkPad and do like an unboxing and review of it while rapping and pledging his allegiance to this project and Mr. Hill personally.

Anything more honest about this travesty of a project really would benefit whatever damage they already did

Are you sure about your current marketing strategy, David? 'Cause 'keeping everything a secret' is not really different from what apple sorta does, and that's where Lenovo went south

Ok, on your last point, which was totally valid, I will predict David 'ThinkKiller' Hills will tweet next:

"Sup TP ppl, we haz a new update for TP #retro. We dope guys at #lenovo make a TP dat workie workie well. U guyz will luv #retro Tp when it come out in somewhere between 3 weeks and the next 4 years. It kbd are goodz."

Im cringing at my own parody.

Don't blame poor David Hill. You see, they still haven't told him it'll be a T470. So the 'epic' thing he saw was probably the same smartphone flick from a Chinese factory everyone was salivating over some 8 days ago. Remember D. Hill probably doesn't work at Lenovo anymore, so he might be kept in the dark now;)

My sincerest apologies. You're right. David Hill is god and can treat us like he pleases. We salute you, David Almighty.

Please, tell us even less. We really feel part of this "community driven project" or whatever marketing pr talk was chewed out back in 2015.

I mean if ever students online marketing/public relations/rebranding want to study a case of how these kind of things should not be done, this is it right here.

You create buzz, you send questionnaires out in a timely fashion, you pretend to listen to that hardcore fanbase of yours and then you let it all die. For what reason, might I ask?

I mean with all the tools at hand thanks to the internet (social media, crowdfunding, ...) one would expect a different kind of handling, no ?

Judging from the size of the palmrest and keyboard bezel, this is almost certainly not 4:3. Even 3:2 is unlikely.

We all know it is a T470.

So only possibilities are:
16:9 or 16;10.

I hope the latter, i fear the former.

I'm guessing the only thing "retro" about this project will be the keyboard. All the other will be poopoo
