Help me out here. I bought a used T500, and it's in good shape and works fine, except for one problem. The seller neglected to inform me that all boot-related BIOS settings are locked without a supervisor password. I'm allowed to enter the BIOS and look at the settings, but not allowed to change most of them. I can still use the computer, because the main hard drive isn't locked out, and the devices work normally after booting; but if I should want to boot from a USB device or external hard drive, I can't.
Is it possible to reset the password? I assume not, because that would defeat the purpose. Maybe if I opened up the computer and removed a certain part, the BIOS would reset?
Take a look at our

Re: some of my new T500's BIOS settings were locked
Forum rules doesn't allow us to discuss resetting of BIOS password.
I'd ask the seller for the password or send it back. If and when the backup battery dies you'll be SOL as you won't be able to set the date and time.

Re: some of my new T500's BIOS settings were locked
I understand the forum policy not to discuss reset of bios passwords. But we should refrain from spreading panic as well I guess. It is a 10min job to reset the password and your claimed risk is not existing at all.
on topic: either coreboot or reset the bios password (info to be found in other places)
