Event ID 137

#1 Post by brucehe » Sat Dec 10, 2022 4:03 pm

Hello All,

I just installed W10, latest download from Microsoft, to my W520 after replacing the system board. I am getting Event 137 errors it seems when the machine is going to sleep or hibernation.

the message is: 'The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S5). This can result in reduced resume performance.'

It does not crash the machine however the previous drive I had installed with W10 did start crashing when going to sleep, thus my reinstall of W10.

I just changed the sleep and hibernation settings so it would not go into that mode so I can see if the errors stop.

Any ideas of what might be going on?

Thanks,

Bruce

Sorry, I meant to post this in Windows 10 index. I will see if I can figure out how to move.

Disable "fast startup".

I don't think this error message itself is anything to worry about. Some schmuck made this an 'error' for no apparent reason. It should have probably been logged at 'warning', if not 'information' level.

Thanks for the input!

I turned off "Fast Start" no change, still getting error when going into sleep mode. My T450s does not show this error when going into sleep mode. Maybe W10 on older hardware shows this?

The only reason i got worried about this is that the machine was crashing with the previous version of W10 every time it went to sleep. So far the w520 with the replaced MB seems stable. I ran Intel Burn in at Very High and it was stable.
